Hey Everyone 👋
Hope you are having a fantastic July so far! Recently, we've been working on a cool new plugin✨ – bring the magic of Typogram and variable fonts inside Canva! Wenting wrote more about it below 👇
Dear friends, I hope this newsletter finds you well! How has life been treating you lately? As for me, I’ve been on quite a journey with Typogram. It’s been a whirlwind of creativity, challenges, and growth. Some days are tough, but your support keeps me going. I’m constantly amazed by how our little typography tool is making a difference in designers’ lives.
Now, I’m excited to share some big news that’s been keeping me up at night (in a good way!)...
Typogram is Coming to Canva!
Last month, I attended the Typographics conference in New York, and it sparked an idea. While Typogram has been serving our dedicated users wonderfully, I realized there’s a whole world of designers using platforms like Canva who could benefit from our advanced typography features. So, I decided to build a bridge - a Typogram plugin for Canva!
What’s in the Plugin?
Our first plugin, currently codenamed "Typogram Strings," will bring:
Variable Fonts: Our entire collection, including premium fonts licensed from our friend company — The Type Founders
Standard Typography Controls: line-height, alignment, and color.
Justify Alignment: Our unique feature for creating perfect rectangular text blocks.
But this is just the beginning! I’ve been brainstorming all the Typogram features we could potentially bring to Canva in the future. Some ideas include:
Ligatures
Glyph Substitutions
Variable Font Gradients
Rounding Corners
Manipulation of anchor points in fonts
While these won’t be in the initial plugin, they’re definitely on my radar for future developments. I’m excited about the possibilities!
Hearing From You
The plugin is about 90% complete, and I’m planning to launch in the coming weeks. But before that, I’d love your input:
What Typogram features would you most like to see in Canva?
Interested in being a beta tester? Let me know!
Know any Canva users who might be excited about this? Spread the word!
Your feedback and support mean everything to me and to Typogram’s growth. It’s what keeps me going on those challenging days and what makes the victories so sweet. Thank you for being part of this journey. I can’t wait to share more updates with you soon!
P.S. How do you like the name "Typogram Strings" for the plugin? I’m open to suggestions if you have a catchier idea!
